Staff Reports
Sustainability Specialist Lindholm reported:
• The 2024 budget process is underway with 3 sustainability related budgets – Sustainability, Recycling, and Organics. The
latter 2 are funded by County SCORE money. The former is a new budget that will help support CAP programs and initiatives.
Commission feedback was taken to help prioritize some of this spending, including on a proposed grantwriting consultant
position.
Discussion Items
Digital Sustainability Guide
Commissioners discussed their sections, focusing on the ones with drafted content. Feedback was given and remaining topics were
divided up amongst the group. Commissioners will continue to write content for topics and refine the amount of information. Staff will
work on the digital design.
2023 Workplan – EAB spotlight
Kueper presented ideas for resident education around EAB, including a week spotlighting the issue in various manners through social
media and newsletter posts, a letter to the editor in the Sun Current, and tabling at the Farmers Market. Future ideas include a citywide
mailer, potentially funded through a grant. Kueper will draft the letter to the editor and bring it to a future commission meeting. Lindholm
will talk to other city staff to coordinate the idea of an EAB education week.
