Staff Reports
Sustainability Specialist Lindholm reported:
The Digital Sustainability Guide is complete and on the website on the Commission and Sustainability webpages. It was posted on social media and in the Recap, shared at the State of
Community, and will be shared through the upcoming climate/CAP communication campaign.
The City has signed a quote with Sawatch Labs to conduct a fleet analysis and EV infrastructure needs study. This will include police, fire, inspections, and many public works vehicles.
It will not include most medium and heavy-duty vehicles due to a lack of EV options for those vehicles. Telematics will need to be acquired over 3 months before the results are able
to be presented.
Discussion Items
2024 Work Plan
Heinen and Dasgupta tabled their topic “Education around Watersmart and usage reduction/water conservation” until the next meeting. Light discussion around the topic and the importance
of conservation/the value of Watersmart was had.
Anderson proposed a collaboration between the Commission and Altlawns on a native plant/rain garden tour in Richfield on August 17th. Anderson discussed the ideas Altlawns members have
had and asked if Commissioners would be interested in participating, knew of any gardens to tour, and could help publicize the tour. The Commission did not have a quorum to officially
approve or join this effort and because there will be no meeting before the tour is scheduled, commissioners will reach out and participate as individuals if they are interested.
