I.CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by President Fletcher at 8:00 a.m.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING OFAPRIL 4, 2017.
M/Hurvitz, S/Stratton to approve the minutes.
Motion carried 3-0.
III.CANCELLATION OF EXISTING ENTRY LEVEL FIREFIGHTER LIST
Fire Chief Kewitsch explained that the current list was two years old.
There was no discussion on the cancellation of the existing list.
M/Hurvitz,S/Fletcher to approve the cancellation of existing entry level firefighter list.
Motion carried 3-0.
IV.APPROVAL OF AN ENTRY LEVEL FIREFIGHTER ELIGIBILITY PROCESS
Fire Chief Kewitsch stated that the new process is close to identical as the last two processes.
The limitations are the minimum to be a firefighter in Minnesota.The written test,tentative forSeptember 30th,would be given to out of town applicants so they could arrange for travel.Skype interviews would be eliminated unless the applicant is actively deployed in the military.
Commissioner Hurvitz stated his concerns about giving skype interviews to only active military.
Fire Chief Kewitsch understands the concerns that Commissioner Hurvitz has but it iscommendable by the State to hold skype interviews for those that are active military duty.
M/Hurvitz,S/Stratton to approve the entry level firefighter eligibility process.
Motion carried 3-0.
V.OTHER BUSINESS
Fire Chief Kewitsch stated that the next meeting would be sometime in October.
VI.ADJOURNMENT
The Civil Service Commission Meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent at 8:10 a.m.
