The meeting was called to order by Mayor Quam at 6:30
Item #1 DISCUSSION OF PLAN REGARDING REDISTRIBUTION OF AIRPORT
NOISE. S.S.L. N0. 24
Don Priebe, MASAC Representative, reviewed a runway use
system proposal that would first direct as much traffic southeast
of the airport (arrive on Runways 29 Left and Right; depart on
Runways it Left and Right) as could be contained in the corridors
the affected communities have zoned for overflights, and
secondly, place the remaining traffic as equally as possible on
the other four runways, all of which overfly similar nearby
residential areas. Mr. Priebe asked that the City Council
support this proposal and that the Mayor present Richfield's
position to MASAC on September 26.
Discussion followed regarding the potential of support for
this proposal from other communities.
Mayor Quam stated that consideration of a resolution in
support of this runway use system will be scheduled for the
September 25 City Council Meeting. He asked Mr. Priebe to also
summarize this issue at the regular September 11 City Council
Meeting to make the public aware of it.
