Item ~~1 PRESENTATION OF CITY'S INFRASTRUCTURE DOCUMENT C.L.30
Community Services Director Fondriek distributed and
explained the infrastructure document developed by the Community
Services Department. Mr. Fondriek explained that the document
identifies the physical assets of the community such as its
buildings, streets, underground services such as water and
sewer and trees, and the condition of these assets. He added
that the replacement cost of the City's infrastructure in
today's dollars would be 145 million dollars. The document was
prepared as a tool for long range capital improvement planning
and in planning maintenance and development strategies.
Council discussion followed regarding depreciating capital
assets to fund replacement costs. Director Fondriek indicated
that vehicles were depreciated, as well as certain enterprise
fund assets. Other funds did not utilize depreciation as
would be used in private enterprise.
Mayor Hamilton complimented the Community Services
Department staff for their efforts in putting together the
Infrastructure Document.
