SPECIAL MEETING - BUDGET HEARING
September 7, 1983
The city council of the City of Richfield met in special session in the
council chambers of the city hall on Wednesday, September 7, 1983 at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Hamilton called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Councilmembers Bunce, Hassenstab, Kirsch, Ludeman, Mayor Hamilton
Absent: Councilmember Priebe (out of town)
Staff Present: Acting City Manager Morgan, Community Services Director
Don Fondrick, Community Development Director Dennis Kraft, and
Assistant City Manager Ron Rankin
1. General Fund Budget Review
An overview of the revised 1983 and proposed 1984 budget for the city's
General Fund was presented by Ron Rankin, Assistant City Manager. City council
members discussed the proposed overall budget, including changes in revenue sources.
Acting City Manager Tom Morgan discussed the budget reductions for 1984 that
had taken place during the preparation of the budget, which totaled over $200,000.
Councilmembers discussed the effects of the budget reductions, indicating a
desire to avoid personnel reductions.
Acting City Manager Morgan presented the budget of the Public Safety Department,
and each divisional budget was reviewed by the city council.
Community Development Director Dennis Kraft presented the Community Development
Department budget, noting the transfer of the Engineering Division. He also provided
a review and update of redevelopment projects throughout the city.
Mr. Lawrence Wozniczka, 6744 Wentworth, asked about the 1983-84 changes in
the departments' budget amounts.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
