SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
January 4, 1982 ~ _-
The City Council of the City of Richfield met in special. session on January 4,
1982 at 7:00 p.m.
Councilmember Ludeman called the meeting to order.
Pastor Clem Peterson,. of United Methodist Church, gave the invocation.
Councilmember Ludeman led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Present: Bunce, Hasser_stab, Kirsch, Ludeman, Hamilton
1. Oath of Office for New Council Members
City Clerk Sylvia Bergh administered the oath of office to Mayor John
Hamilton and Councilmember Martin Kirsch.
Mayor Hamilton introduced his family, various staff members, school board
members and other friends present for the ceremony.
Councilmember Kirsch introduced his parents.
2. Presentation of Rotary Club Banner to City Council
Roger.~Stern appeared in behalf of the Rotary Club and spoke of this service
club's aims and goals. He presented a Rotary Club banner depicting the Wood Lake
Nature Center as its design to the city council.
3. Designation of Official Newspaper
City Manager Nollenberger presented a letter from the Sun Newspapers,
requesting that they again be designated the city's official newspaper for 1982.
Motion by Hassenstab, seconded by Bunce to designate the Richfield Suzi as
the city's official newspaper.
All ayes - Carried..
4. Designation of Official Depositories
City Manager Nollenberger presented resolutions designating certain banlcs
and savings and loan associations as official depositories for the city for 1982.

Mayor Hamilton read his recommendations for appointees as liaison members
to various city and metropolitan boards and commissions.

Special City Council Meeting -5- January 4, 1982
Motion by Ludeman, seconded by Bunce to defer appointment of citizen
representatives to the South Hennepin Human Services Commission.
A11 ayes - Carried.
6. Appointment to the Housing and Redevelopment Authority
City Manager Nollenberger advised the council that Ms. Collins' term on
the HRA ended December 31, 1981, 'and it was necessary to appoint a member to
the HRA to fill this unexpired term.
Motion by Ludeman, seconded by Kirsch to appoint Councilmember Hassenstab
to the HRA subject to his term of office as councilmember.
All ayes - Carried.

Councilmember Bunce congratulated Mayor Hamilton upon assuming the office
of mayor and Councilmember Ludeman welcomed Martin Kirsch and John Hamilton to
the city council.
8. Benediction
Pastor E. F. Rehwaldt, of Mount Calvery Lutheran Church, gave the benediction.
9. Adjournment
Motion by Ludeman, seconded by Hassenstab that the meeting adjourn.
