10-05-1978 SpecialCITY OF RICHFIELD SPECIAL MEETING - CONTINUED BUDGET HEARING October 5, 1978 The Council of the City of Richfield met in special session in the Council '';-- Chambers of the City Hall on Thursday, Octobe~^ 5, 1978, for the purpose of continuing .,; the review of the proposed 1979 budget. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Loren L. Law. ~' • Present: Anderson, Ludeman, Luettinger, Law ''' Absent: Jacobsen -Steve Lepinski, director of the Storefront, reviewed the Storefront operation and requested a 1979 contribution from the city of $22,000. Wayne Burggraaff, City Manager, explained that the proposed budget included an appropriation of $20,000 in support of the Storefront operation. The council reviewed the requested appropriations for travel, conferences and schools in the Parks and Recreation and the Planning Departments. Motion by Ludeman, seconded by Luettinger to reduce the travel account in '~'~ the Parks and Recreation and the Planning Department budgets by $500 each. Po11 of votes: Ayes - Ludeman, Luettinger, Law. Nays - Anderson. Absent - Jacobsen. Carried. Motion by Anderson to approve the request to fill the position of Operations Analyst in the Public Works Department. Motion died for lack of a second. The city manager presented information on the need to have an Operations Analyst. Motion by Ludeman, seconded by Luettinger to delete one Engineering Tech I position in the Public Works budget, Engineering Division and to approve inclusion of the newly proposed Operations Analyst position. Poll of votes: Ayes - Ludeman, Luettinger, Law. Nays - Anderson. Absent - Jacobsen. Carried. Continued Budget Hearing -2- ~ October 5, 1978 The council then discussed their intent to continue the senior citizen/ handicapped transportation service that has been provided during 1978 through ~' --~- -: ~---~~ a CETA special project. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Luettinger to increase the 1979 contingency by $15,000 with the understanding that this appropriation-will be used, if necessary, to provide for senior/handicapped transportation services. .S All ayes - Carried. Absent - Jacobsen. Motion by Luettinger.. seconded by Ludeman to increase the Storefront purchase of services in 1979 from $20,000 to $22,000. _ All ayes - Carried. Absent.- Jacobsen.
