Richard KrierB City Plannera presented background information on the variance and the staff's recommendation that this request be denied. Lowell Becker® 7047 Xerxes Avenue, presented a petition from surrounding neighbors favoring the conversion of a two unit duplex to a three unit apartment complex. Bill Gilbertsono owner of a duplex at the north end of the blocko appeared in interest. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Luettingera that the hearing be closed . All ayes -Carried. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Kenealeyo that this request for a variance at 7047 Xerxes Avenue be denied. All ayes -Carried. 4. Dearing Regarding Revocation of Soft Touch Sauna License. Mr. Burggraaff reported on his suspension of the license for the Soft Touch Sauna . The attorney for the licensee o requested that the hearing on this item be continued to the council meeting of August 12tha as stated in his letter of July 22® 1974 to City 1 Council Meeting Minutes -3 - July 22, 1974 Attorney Clayton LePevere. Attorney Thomson -also consented to the continuance of the present suspension of this license. Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Anderson, that- the city council approve the 1 purchase of a one-ton roller to be used for patching by the street department, which piece of equipment -shall be assigned to the Central Garage. All ayes -Carried. 6. Amendment to ®ff-Street Parking Contract for Richfield Bank and Trust Corn an . Rolf Hagen, 7258 Humboldt Avenue, son of the owner of Hagen's F'u~s , 6601 Lyndale Avenue, appeared on behalf of his father and requested the council°s consid- eration in not closing the curb cut on Lyndale Avenue. H® also read a letter from his fa ther, B . C a Fia~gen . Carl McBride, representing Richfield Bank ~ Trust Company, commented on the proposed parking lot. Phil Swan, Route I, Prior Lake, representing Richfield jewelry, also spoke re- garding council consideration in not closing the curb cut on Lyndale Avenue. Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Anderson, that this hearing be closed, and that 1 the council approve the staff°s recommendations with the following stipulatiorfs: 1. That landscape- treatment be provided to maintain the character estab- lished by Richfield Bank ~ Trust Company. Landscape and lighting plans to be approved by-the city staff. 2. Metropolitan Transit Commission Bus Service Presentation . Cam Andrea Executive Director of the Metropolitan Tran-sit Commission, and staff members presented a summary of events presently being implemented by MTC and in particular the recent acquisition of the Bloomington Bus Company. Motion by Jacobsena seconded by Kenealey, that the city manager be directed to write to the Metropolitan Tran-sit Commission and reaffirm the interest of the city council in obtaining bus service to the Southdale-Fairview Hospital. All ayes -Carried. Senator William G. Kirchner, 6830 Newton Avenue a reported on -his request for service to the hospital-area, 8 . Rectuest for Parking Restrictions o South Side of 72nd Street between Nicollet Avenue and Pillsbury Avenue .
