Rev. John Chel1, House of Prayer Lutheran Church, gave the invocation, Meeting called to order by Mayor Law. Present: Anderson, Jacobsen, Kenealey, Luettinger and Law.. Absent: None. 1. Minutes. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that the minutes of the regular meeting of November 26, 1973 be accepted as presented, with the following corrections Page 3, Item ~~4...'fhe name of Robert Aretz, be corrected to read m "Robert Borrett", representing Minnesota Association of Petroleum Retailers. All ayes - Carried. 2. Request by Short Stop Superette, The Requirement of a Boundary 1°ence. • Cedar Avenue, for a Variance to Rliminate Mr. Ronald Johnson, attorney for Short Stop Superette, and representing owners Virgil Nelson and Alvin W. Hohbein, appeared before the council and requested a variance from the city ordinance to eliminate the necessity for construction of a screening fence or wall between the Short Stop Superette located at 7034 Cedar Avenue, and the adjacent multiple residence to the north. Motion by Luettinger seconded by Jacobsen, that this hearing be closed. Po11 of votes: All Ayes - Carried. Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Jacobsen, that the council grant t?~e variance due to the unique history surrounding the development of the area. Po11 of votes: Ayes - Jacobsen, Luettinger and Law. Jerome Dayton, an owner of the Heidelberg Restaurant at 708 West 66th Street9 1 appeared in behalf of his application for the renewal of an OnmSale Intoxicating Liquor License for the Heidelberg Dining Lounge. Motion by Jacobsen9 seconded by Luettinger, that the hearing be closed. All ayes _ Carried. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Kenealey, that the renewal for an On®Sa1e Intoxicating Liquor License for the Heidelberg Dining Lounge, be granted, with the following stipulations contained in Exhibit A, attached to the city manager°s council letter No. 310,. dated December 109 1973, as followsa A. Items to be completed immediately. 1. `The wall in the men°s toilet must be finished so that it can be easily cleaned, 2. Worn floor tale in •the storage room west of the east bar must be replaced. 3. A miniaaum of 30 foot candles of lighting must be provided in all bars, food equipment, food preparation, and all other areas of the restaurant so that there is enough light for the cleanup operators. Lighting may be subdued in customer areas after cleanp•up. 4. All ayes - Carried. 9. Approval of 1974 Animal Control Contract. Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Anderson, that the council approve a contract renewal with Metropolitan Animal Patrol Service, Inc., for the year 1974, for an annual cost not to exceed $16,483.
