SPECL4L MEETING

Pursuant to the provisions of the City Charter of Richfield, the City
Council held a special session on Monday, September 17, 1973 at 7:00 p.m.
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, 6700 Portland Avenue, to hold a public
hearing on the 1974 proposed budget.
Present: Councilmen _ Anderson, Jacobsen, Luettinger, Kenealey
and Mayor Law.
Absent: None
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Law.
Earl Maffett, 6745 Harriet Avenue spoke in favor of using liquor funds for
street improvements . Mr. Maffett also spoke in favor of improving fire services in
the community and placing less emphasis on park. development.
Stanley Olson, 6420 Vincent Avenue reported on a petition being circulated
on the west side of the city requesting that the city continue to operate the west
side fire station. The city manager, mayor and council members indicated that the
city had no intention to close the west side fire station and that it would remain in
operation. Mr. Olson also reported on various activities of the N, O.I. S.E. Organ
ization.
Lawrence Wozniczka, 6744 Wentworth Avenue spoke in favor of c~itting the
budget and lowering taxes and itemized what he called questionable expenses in the
budget. Mr. Wozniczka also spoke in opposition to the high levy proposed and re®
quested a detailed listing of levies allowed in excess of the state law limitation.
Gertrude Ulrich, 7601 Aldrich Avenue, spoke in favor of apartment unit
inspections .

were discussed by the council,

Motion by Jacobsen9 seconded by Andersons that the meeting be adjourned.
