SPECIAL MEETING
BUDGET HEARING
October 2, 1972
Pursuant to the provisions of the City Charter of Richfield, the city council
held a special session on Monday, Oci~ober 2, 1972, at 7:00 p.m., in the council chambers
of the city hall, 6700 Portland Avenue, to consider the 19.73 proposed budget.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Loren Law.
Present.: Councilmen - Anderson, Jacobsen, Kenealey, and Luettinger.
Mayor - Law.
Absent: None.
Further budget discussion qa.s given to the Legal and Accounting D3,visions.
Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Jacobsen, that all conference attendance re-
quests be brpught before the council for approval on a case by case basis before
attending 1973 conferences.
A11 ayes - Carried.
Motion by.Jacobsen, seconded by Anderson,. that the following resolution be adopted;
that it be spread in. the resolution book and that it be made a part of these minutes:

Motion by Kenealey, seconded by Luettinger, to delete $22,500 for a central
business district study from revised 1972 budget, in Account 1130., and reduce budget
funding by like amount.

the $22,500 in the 1972 budget.

$6,800 for portable dictation units and that staff prepare a new proposal and plan on.
use of this equipment.

Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Kenealey, to add $6,800 to the contingency fund,

Absent - Noue. Motion defeated.
Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Kenealey, to approve concept of increase of two
sergeants and decrease of two police officers.

Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Law, that Public~Safety Director's salary-for
1973 be set at $17,500, a decrease of $4,106.
All ayes - Carried.
Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Law, to delete request for part-time employee,
in the amount of $2,971.
All ayes - Carried.
3. PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION -FIRE DEPARTMENT.
Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Law, to increase capital outlay to 15 masks, an
increase of $1,000.
All ayes - Carried.

4. PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION - CIVIL DEFENSE.
Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Anderson, that the Civil Defense budget be
approved as presented.

5. ADJOURNMENT.
Motion by Ibenealey, seconded by Anderson., that the ffieeting be ad3ourned and the
nest budget hearing scheduled for Monday, October 9, 1972, at 0;00 p.m.
