SPECIAL MEETING
BUDGET HEARING
October 8, 1971
Pursuant to the hearing of October 6, 1971, the council reconvened t® continue
' the budget hearing on Friday, October 8, 1971, at 7:00 p.m., in the council chambers
of the city hall, 6700 Portland Avenue.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Olson.
Present: Anderson, Jacobsen, Luettinger, Law and Olson.
Absent: None.
1. piscussion - Park and Recreation Department.
Administrative Division.
C. G. DeSantis, 6508 Newton Avenue, appeared in interest.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that the Administrative Division of
the Park and Recreation Department budget be approved in the amount of $34,641.
All ayes - Carried.
Park Division.
The following persons appeared in interest:
Earl Maffett, 6745 Harriet Avenue
Mrs. Sandra Carter, 7008 Oakland Avenue
Lawrence Wozniczka, 6744 Wentworth Avenue
Motion by Olson, seconded by Luettinger, to use E. E. A. financing fora Park
Maintenance position - $8,568.
A11 ayes - Carried.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, to allow one>half of the proposed
amount for the flusher tank truck, for an amended total of $6,875.00 on this item.
All ayes - Carried.
The council requested the administration to make a report in regard to a Tot

Lot in the Dupont area at the November 22nd council meeting.
Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Luettinger, that the Park Division budget of bhe Park
and Recreation Department, be approved in the amount of $154,782.

Motion by Law, seconded by Jacobsen, that the swimming pool budget of the Park
and Recreation Department be approved in the amount of $51,900.
All ayes - Carried.
Ice Arena Division.
The following persons appeared in interest:

George Tellgren, 6937 Upton Avenue
Donald Houlding, 7145 13th Avenue.

Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Law, that the Ice Arena budget the Park and
Recreation Department be approved in the amount of $137,745.

Recreation Division.
Lawrence Wozniczka, 6744 Wentworth Avenue, spoke.
Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Olson, to delete Go-Karts, under "Seasonal
Employees" - (Childrens Programs), in the amount of $2,700,

Motion by Law, seconded by Luettinger, to approve the Recreation Division
budget of the Park and Recreation Department in the amount of $133,177, with
direction to the administration to review this budget activity to see if any further
deletion of items can be recommended.
All ayes - Carried.
