DefErred Hearing -Ordinance Code, Bill No. 1968-1 Mayor Olson c a11ed for the hearing on the 'Ordinance Code (Bill No. 1968-1~ which hearing had been deferred from the meeting of Mar. 25th. Robert Forsythe, attorney, appeared. A discussion followed. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that Section 3.01, Subd. ~.be de- leted and the following inserted: Subd. 1i.. ' Permits Required. Except as otherwise provided in Subd. 6 hereof, it is unlawful for any pers~ n to perform any plumbing work re- gulated by this chapter without first having obtained a perma.t as pro- vided in Section 3.06. Permits required by this section may be issued only to persons duly licensed by the State of Minnesota. as provided in Minnesota Statutes 326,37 et. seq. Following Subd. 5, add Subd. 6 which is as follows (Note: this is an entire new section .added) Subd. 6. Regulation of the Installing of Water Softening Devices. The installation of water softening devices shall be subject to the following regul ationsa (1) No person shall. engage in the business of installing, leas- ing or servicing water softening devices which shall. be connected witha or used in connection with, any water pipe or mairi~connected with the water supply system of the city, or any private domestic water supply thereina without being licensed to do so by the city manager, ar unless licensed~es:a plumber by the State of Minnesota. (2). The armual license fee for such license shall bb $25.OOo (3) The application fox such license shall. be made ors blanks furnished by the city clerkp shall state the. location of the ap- plicants s place of business, the name of manufactureac~s of water softening devices to be connected, installed or serviced by the -3 aril 8 19b8 applicant, the experience of the applicant in connecting, servicing, installing and constructing water softening devices, the names of em~ employes who will be engaged in actual servicing and connecting of wate~° so-c,~na~~.g devic®s tri±tla~, the citye ~.d such other- information as the city manager shall: v°s.;u~.a (~.) Request Regarding Water Consumption A letter from the Westland Plating Co. regarding a request fox the installa- tion of a larger water pipe in a letter dated Mar. 49 1968, was considered. A discussion was held on various proposed plans w3.th the estimated costs for each as well as recommendations for th® m®st s~aitabl® playa for Richfield. 12. Joint IIse of Police Personnel. 8e Rgvi.pment A discussion was held regarding a proposed agreement for point and co- operative use of police personnel and equipment, It was decided to continue the discussion at the next regular council meeting when other interested officials could be present. Motion by Randall, seconded by Jacobsen, that Wayne W. Bennett and Sheriff Donald Omodt be invited to attend the next council meeting.
