TYxought rates were too high. Robert Gordon, 6937 Nicollet Ave., felt there was inequity it: the proposal because of not assessing vacant lots. Ted Farrington suggested vacant land be charged. Rene Tt~eed, president of Westland Plating Co., appeared in interest of high users. Prank Riley appeared in interest of charges to schools. Acceptance of Gift . .. Councilman Luettinger reported on a $25.00 gif t from the Bloomington area Shrine Ciub for recreational purposes. Motion bq Lue ttinger, seconded by Anderson, that the council accept the gift of $25.00 with thanks from the Bloomington stag Shrine Club. Ali ayes ~. carried. 12. Acceptance of Gif t Biii Redmond represented the West Richfield Babe Ruth League and requested distribution of the funds for their program. The city attorney explained that these were municipal, funds-and could not be spent as gif ts. Ha.rvep Chapman offered information on Babe Ruth League initial development. The mayor read parts of the letter sent by the citq to C~ivin Griffith. Vincent Robert Rankin, 6424 &~ Ave., appeared, Ray Tchida, ?310 17th Ave., East Little League president, recommended that the properties used for practice be improved. Mr. 5oiie reiterated Mr. Tchida's statements. Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Anderson, that the $1900 gift be put in escrow toward a municipal ball park. Mr. Jacobsen's second was withdrawn. Appointment - Police Civil Service Commission Motion by Randall, seconded by Anderson, that Robert.7.hit, 1017 W. 76th St., be appointed to the police civil service commission for a three yeah term ex- Airing Feb. 1970. All ayes - carried. ' The city attorney ru led tha t a person could not hold a position on the police civil service commission and a position on the Planning Commission.
