F1®yd Roman of the police department did-not .favor longevity, but did like a merit plan. Charles Swenson, representing Local 49, favored like pay for like work. Cornelius McCoy, representing 7tichfield Tax Commission, did not favor percentage increase, but favored a ctoliar change. .. - .John Clarke,, patrolman, stated that Bloomington had a large turnover of patrolmen. Mrs.. Brenner, 7234 14th Ave., and.Fioarence `Zltrner, 722'8 14th Ave., appeared in' interest and asked about revenue sources. Frank Melchoir, 7300 Park. Ave. •. spoke in favor of staying within the Presi~ . dents guidlines. Robert Bckstein, detectix-e, spoke in interesto ._ .. John Nelson, patrolman ¢, spoke..in- interest.. .., Dollar •am®unt or. percentage for...increase basis was discussed'. Nin, Reischei, representing the f.irea:en's local, explained some of the uni©n~requests. Motion by Luettinger, seconded_by:Andexson, that the council approve a salary ©f $429 for the administrative intern. Bob Cook, represanting.po3ice.civil service commission, gave views re- garding_longevity and. schooling.. of.police personnel. Motion by Jacobsen,.._tha.t .the following .salaries be approved for the police departments $700 for detectives,. $?20 for sergeants and $740 for lieutenants. Motion lost for the lack of a second.
