Motion by Olson, seconded by Luettinger, that action on this matter be deferred to June 13th for a vote when Councilman Jacobsen will be present and can vote, All ayes - carried. $.� Hearing - Special Use Permit -- 7214 Cedar Ave. It being 7:15 P.M, Mayor Olson called for the hearing on the application of Jo D, Behrendt, Jr,, 9213 Chicago Ave., for renewal of permit to locate re- tail sales of camping equipment at 7214 Cedar Ave, and read the notice of hear- ing. Mr, & Mrs, Behrendt appeared as applicants, explaining that the set back was to be even with the apartments, Proper drainage was discussed. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Randall, that the hearing be closed. All ayes - carried. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Luettinger, that the special use permit requested by J, D. Behrendt, Jr,, 9213 Chicago Ave., to renew the speckal use permit (approved June 22, 1964 and expired June 22, 1965) to locate a retail sale of camping equipment at 7214 Cedar Ave., subject to the stipulations ap- proved June 1964 and with proper grading on the rear of the lot, All ayes - carried. Mayor Olson called for the hearing on City Project No, 544, Sidewalk Construction, and read the notice of hearing. The apartments will pay to the city 100% of the cost of the sidewalk in front of the apartments. No one appeared in opposition. Bob Reddick appeared in favor. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Randall, that the hearing be closed. All ayes - carried. Commercial'Bldg. Permit - 6700 Penn Ave. Don Balmer represented the applicant, explaining that retail sales in upper front half of the building with storage and repair in the rear along with storage in the basement, The attorney stated that the upper floor would be retail space. -6- May 239 1966 Motion by Olson, seconded by Randall, that the council grant the com- mercial building permit at 6700 Penn Ave, with brick on north and east sides and shadow block on west. All ayes - carried. C -7285 Motion by Olson, seconded by Randall, that the council grant tentative approval to the off - street parking layout at 6700 Penn Ave. All ayes - carried. 11. Commercial Bldg. Permit - 6637 Lyndale Ave. Carl McBride represented the Richfield Investment Co,, applicants. The building is to be of permanent finish on north and west with design block or semi - permanent on other two sides. Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Anderson, that the council grant the commercial building permit to Richfield Investment Cp., 6625 Lyndale Ave., to construct a building for insurance agency and mortgage department with perma- nent finish on all sides of the building at 6637 Lyndale Ave. S.; All ayes - carried. 120 Commercial Bid o Permit - 920 W. 78th St. Joseph Nolan appeared as applicant and John Caroline, contractor,_also appeared. The display of motor bikes was discussed. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Luettinger, that the council grant-the commercial building permit to construct a building to include sales and service of imported automobiles, and Honda motor bikes (new And used)- -(move business from-7600 Lyndale Ave.), building to be of brick on east, north and south sides (and window) with design block -on west side approved by the engineer, with alternate of building to' possibly be moved 4 feet east; stipulations from special use permit to be included in this permit, i.e. no outside display of motor bikes. Outdoor Advertising Signs Dick Telke appeared representing the applicant. Motion by Randall, seconded by Luettinger, that the council grant the sign permit to Richfield Lanese 6449 Lyndale Ave., for a sign at 6449 Lyndale Ave. All ayes ® carried. 140 Outdoor Advertising Sign Dan Mertes appeared with the applicant, explaining the plan to change sign and move present hanging sign to the roof. Present boulevard signs were discussed. Motion by Olson, seconded by Luettinger, that the council grant the sign permit for two signs and roof sign with proper application to be made for the roof sign, and existing signs to be reviewed for legality and a report to be made* All ayes a carried. 15. Donation for Community Room The mayor read a letter from the Minneapolis council of Camp Fire Girls who donated a standing blackboard for the Community Room in the Library. Motion by Randall, seconded by Luettinger, that the council accept with thanks the standing blackboard for the Community boom and that a letter be sent to that effect to the Camp Fire Girls. All ayes - carried. 20. Resignation from Fire Civil SLtykrt Commission A letter of resignation from Charles Bard was read. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Randall, that the resignation of Charles Bard be accepted and that a certificate of award be sent to him.
