CITY OF RICHFIELD Regular Meeting April 11 1966 The council of the City of Richf field met in regular session, Monday, April li, 1966, in the council chambers of the City Hall, 6700 Portland Ave., at 7:®® P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayvr Olson. Presents Anderson, Jacobsen, Luettinger,. Randall and Olson. Absents None. The Rev. James F. Riley, St. Nicholas Episcopal Church,. gave the invoca- ti on . 1. Minute Motion by Randaii, seconded by Jacobsen, that the minutes of the regular meeting of March 28, 1966 be approved with the following correction: Page 12, Item 25-- "Motion by Jacobsen, seconded try Randall, that an amendment be made to the above motion to include 'an increase of $50.•00•. Motion by Andersonq seconded by Luettinger, that the council authorize the clerk to advertise a hearing on the application of Jerome C, Ulrich, 7601 Aldrich Ave., to rezoning 711 W. 76th St, from residential to limited business, hearing to be May 23, 1966. All ayes - carried. 5. Set Date of Hearing Rezoning - 6926 Cedar Ave. Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Jacobsen, that the council authorize the clerk to advertise a hearing on the application of Lowell W. Anderson, Rt. ~l, Savage, Minn., to rezone 6926 Cedar Ave. from general commercial to multiple residence; hearing to be May 23, 1966. All ayes - carried. 6. Set Date of Hearing Special Use Permit - 6300 Lyndaie Ave. Herman Lundberg, real estate agent, and Mr. Applebaum appeared as ap® piicants. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that the council authorize the clerk to advertise a hearing on the application of Murphy Oil Corp,, Adolph M. Garde, Robert A. Garde' for a special use permit at 6300 Lyndaie Ave.D hearing to be May 23, 1966. Presentation of Award Mayor Olson presented Certificate of Award (posthumous - T,eRoy Johnson to Mrso Johnson in recognition of his work in Civil Defense. 9s Hearing. ® Rezoning 1615 and 1621 l~r. 66th St. It being 7015 P.M. Mayor Olson called for the hearing on the application of David H, Wachter, 1615 W, 66th St., to rezone property and read the notice of hearing. Mrs, Wachter appeared as applicant, offering 30 f t. to be deeded for streets No one appealed in opposition. Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Anderson, that the hearing be closed. All ayes A carried. Mayor Olson called for the hearing on the application of The inthitbeck 7Frazer School, Inc. for a special use permit at 6324 Queen Ave. and read the notice of hearing. Rasmussen, President; Directors: Don Hardesty, Gale Lair, Bruce Solomonson, Robert Gunderson; Roger Johnson, architect, also appeared. Robert Gunderson gave an explanation on the background of the school, that ages 4 to 18 were generally included with a proposed attendance of 1®0. Don Hardesty explained that application for federal funds had been made, and that the present site was up for sale, F.oger Johnson, architect, presented the preliminary plans of the building. ayane J®seph, attorney for Mr. Lund, gave preliminary proposals for the pra~perty to the north in respect to use of Queen Ave. No one appeared in opposition. George Elder, 6233 Russell Ave., asked about Queen Ave, and fenced Jerry Sartor, 6335 Russelr Ave., preferred school to an apartment building. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that the council grant the special use permit to The Whitbeck Prazer School, Inc. (formerly `The Home Study -5 ~. April 11, 1966 Schoal) to locate a school for the mentally retarded at 632 Queen Avem with the stipulation that the Queen Ave. right-of-way be deeded if necessary, and a proper fence, if needed, be taken up with the neighbors.. Fire Relief Assn Investments Motion by Randalr, seconded by Anderson, that the council grant approv- al to the investme nt of $10,000 of funds of the Fire Relief Association in Federal Agency Securities.
