07-14-1965 SpecialCITY OF RICHFIELD Special Meeting > BOARD OF BQUALIZATION July 14 , 1965 On due call and notice, the council of the City of Richf ieid met as the Board of Bqualization in the council chambers of the City Hall, 6700 Portland Ave., Wednesday, July 14, 1965, at 7:00 P.~M, The meeting was called to order by Mayor Olson. Present: 'Anderson, Jacobsen, Luettinger, Randall and Olson; 0. J. Janski and Dan Rognrud, duly appointed resident members. Absent: None. Robert Martin represented Hennepin County Supervisor of Assessments. Bruce McCrady, 6809 Wentworth Ave., appeared (Plat 4482.?, Parcel 6777) ap- peered regarding his value based on percentage actually complete. Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Luettinger, that the assessment remain as it is. Ail ayes - carried. Allan Okerman, owner of HammApts., objected to assessment higher than they cost, Pred Hamm, owner of 7320 Cedar Ave,, objected to value on this apart- ment. Motion bq Luettinger, seconded by .Jacobsen, that the property owners talk to the assessor for reconciliation of facts. Aii ayes -carried. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Rognrud, that July 20th be set as the next date for the Board of Equalization. Ali ayes - carried. Mr. Bahret, 6601 Penn Ave. 5., represented Shell Oil Co. relative to filling station at 6601 Penn Ave., asking that buiiding.vaiue he considered too high be treated the same as other f iiling stations in the city. He had no objection to the land value. Mrs. Larry Gilmer, 601 B, 67th St., appeared in favor of the station. -2- July i4, 1965 Motion by Luettinger, seconded by Olson, that the council deny the re- quest for reduction of valuation on 6601 Penn Ave. ~. Ali ayes -carried. John Lebeck, 6624 Oakland Ave., questioned increase in value for aluminum siding and central air conditioning. It was the consensus of opinion of the Board that new siding did not add to the value of the house, but only made it easier to sell. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Randall, that no additional cost for siding be made and adjust air conditioner cost to $6~0f00--total lower value, $550.00. Ali ayes - carried. Charles Irwin, 6845 Park Ave., objected to siding cost increase and stone facing. A discussion was held to reduce siding valuation $325. Bob Martin stated that the value had to increase at leasfi $300 before it could legally be considered. Motion by Olson, seconded by Jacobsen, that the council consider that there had been no 3mproveme.nt to the property at 6845 Park Ave. Ali ayes - carried. N. ~i. Moskoff, 7121 Stevens Ave., objected to taxes; $15,825 on assessor's books and he paid $16, 800. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that there be no change in the valuation at 7121 Stevens Ave. All ayes - carried. Raymond Ziebal, 7420 Stevens Ave., objected to increase for upstairs. Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Anderson, that the value remain as es- tabiished by the assessor. A 11 ayes -carried. -3- July 14, 1965 Ralph Wolf , 7414 Clinton Ave. , asked for information on percentage completed in 1964. No Board action on this property as value was not questioned. B. R, Morey, 7432 Clinton Ave., asked for inf ormation on whether 1965 increase over 1964 increase was 100x complete. No Board.a.ction oi~ this property since value was not questioned. _ Myron Stepanchak, 6711 Portland Ave., questioned his increased value. Motion by Olson, seconded by Randall, that. his valuation be adjusted $300 downward. Ali ayes - carried. Robert Zeck, 7341 Humboldt Ave. 5~., questioned aluminum siding and swimming pool (16 x 32') valuation. He presented a letter from the Comm. of Taxation that the pool was personal property since it sat on top of the ground. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that the value on 7341 Humboldt Ave. be reduced on account of pool and siding constituted no in- crease in value. All ayes -carried. Y. E, Barker, 6600 Penn Ave., objected to building value increase pushing him beyond economic limit. No Board action taken since no objection to value.
