VILLAGE OF RICHFIELD Regular Meeting . June 24, 1963 The council of the Village of Richf ieid met in regular session, Monday, June 24, 1983, in the council chambers of the Village Hail, 6700 Portland Ave. at 7:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Olson, Present: Anderson, Randall and Olsono Absent: Reese and Jacobsen. Rev. J. H. Long ley, Emerson Ave, Congregational Church, gave the invo~ cation. 1. Minutes: Motion by Anderson, seconded by Randall, that the minutes of the regular meeting of June 10, 1963 be approved. Ail ayes m carried, n Junior College The following members of the school board were present: Robert B. Gunderson Richard Bverson Albert J. Mayer Lorin Gasteriand as well as Lowe 11 Walkers chairman of the Junior College Committee Mr. Walker spoke, outlining the purpose of the committee, Mr. Gunderson, Mr. Gasterland and Mr, Bverson each spoke on the proposed junior college, the purpose of their ap pearance at the council meeting being to have members of the school board and the village council to join hands in an effort to have Richfield selected as the site for the future junior colleges The following persons were recommended as members of the committee. Councilman Anderson suggested Don Lynch, 6617 S, Lakeshore Drive, Councilman Randall suggested John Luettinger, 7045 14th Aveo S, Mayor Olson suggested Dr, Melvin O1son,~7809 Portland Ave, The two other appointments will be made ].stet as the councilmen mere absent, 3. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Randaii, that the hearing be closed, Ali ayes - carried. ,Motion by Randall, seconded by Anderson, that the zoning variation be granted to Robert Hackett, 6745 12th Ave, S,, for permission to extend a cornice to exceed the 2.6°â€˘ maximum permitted by Ordina~e No, 2.03. Hearing -Village Project No, 485 (Sidewalk Construction) Mayor Olson called for a hearing on Village Project No. 485E Cutest side Harriet Ave., 66th St, to ?0th 5t.) which matter had been deferred from the meeting of June 10th . A report was read dated June 18, 1963 from the project engineer on the numbe~° of trees to be taken in the event of sidewalk construction on either the east or west sides of Harriet Ave, from 66th 5t, to 70th Streets. Motion by Olson, seconded by Randall, that the report on trees dated June 18, 1963, be accepted and filed, Ail ayes - carried, Cm7262 Motion by Olson, seconded by Randall, that.the remonstrance petition relative to the west side of Harriet Ave, signed by S property owners, be ac- cepted and filed. All ayes -carried, Cm7263 Motion by Olson, seconded by Randaii, that the petition favoring side- walk on the west side of Harriet Ave. signed by 13 property owners be ac- carted and filed. Cuinane, 6737 Harriet Aveo Mrs. Frantzich, 6740 Harriet Ave, Chas. H. Swanson, 6717 Harriet Ave, opposed to sidewalk on either side. Mrs. R. P. Meloney, 6730 Harriet Ave., opposed to sidewalks• R. W. Meloney, 6730 Harriet Aveo, was in favor of the compromise, Motion by Olson, seconded by Randall, that the hearing be closed. Ali ayes v carried. The village attorney reminded the council that f inai action on any sidewalk construction would have to be deferred until a meeting when 4~ of the council was present. Motion by Olson, seconded by Randall, that the decision on sidewalk for Village Project No. 485G (sidewalk on Harriet Ave, from 66th to 70th Streets) be deferred until July 8, 1963 meeting. Ail ayes o carried, Mayor Olson called for the hearing on Village Project No. 485K, West side of Bloomington Ave., 66th 5t, to 70th Ste, which matter had been deferred from the meetir~ of June 10th. Aii ayes carried, -6- June 24, 1963 After a discussion a motion was made by Anderson, seconded by Olson, that proceedings be initiated to include the east side of Bloomington from 66th St. to 70th Sta in the sidewalk program for 1963. Poll of votes: Ayes -Anderson, Olson. Nays - Randall. Absent - Jacobsen and Reese, Carried. Land Division - 7521 Morgan Ave_, Mel Johnson, 7508 Morgan Ave., contractor, appeared representing the applicant. No persons appeared in opposition, ®~.~ June 24, 1963 Mr. Johnson agreed to furnish a letter from abutting property owners stating that they have no objection to the division of land, Motion by Randaii, seconded by Anderson, that the hearing be closed.
