02-05-1963 SpecialVILLAGB OP RICHPIBLD Special Meeting February 5, 1963 In accordance with action taken at the meeting of January 28, 1963, the council of the Village of Richfie ld met in special session, Tuesday, February 5, 1963 in the. council chambers of the Village Hali, 6700 Portland Ave. at ?000 P,Me The meeting was called to order by Mayor Olson. Present: Anderson, Jacobsen, Randall, Reese and Olson. Absent: None, Public Improvement Program for 1963 Presentation of the proposed public improvement program of 1963 was made by the manager. Mayor Olson called for any particular interests on any public im~ provement from the persons in attendance.. Penn Ave. Paving o Wendell Peterson, owner of Lincoln Hills Hardware, Chas Little, 6900 Penn Ave. S, and several others from this business area, appeared in in~ terest of the Penn Ave, paving, Wendell Feterson spoke in opposition to this project. Objection was raised to assessment of 50% of sidewalk costs to business owners,. Joe Meyer, 6717 Penn Ave, and J, Bo Fowler, Jr,, 6916 Penn Ave, S „ appeared, The council wants to find the cost of rebate assessments on sidewalk to 20% against abutting property for business as well as residential on such improvements already in, Harvey Chapman brought up integral design for curb and sidewalko Woodlake Development Gunnar Ahiquist represented interested parties for development of Woodlakeo 1 -2- Peb. 5, 1963 Mrs, Richmond, representing Minn. Valley Women's League mentio ned that this is a government meandered lake that would require State of Minnesota approval for development. The manager was instructed t o check into cost studies on dredging and soundings on Woodlake. Park Improvements Jim Anderson, Don Coombs, Steve Rukavina and others appeared in interest on parks, Sheridan Park tennis courts were requested by Jim Anderson. Motion by Jacobsen, seconded bq Randall, that one twin tennis court be included in the program for Sheridan Park. Mr, Thompson appeared in interest on baseballs coming into his yard 1 from Memorial Park. The manager stated that a b ackstop would be put in this year.. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that letters signed by pro. party owners on Memorial. Park and one sig ned by five propertq owners dated Jan. 27, 1963 on Sheridan Park be accepted and filed, Ail ayes v carried, C< 7102, 7103 respectively, Wilson Parko A request was made by Steve Rukavina that seed and sod be included in the area around the pond at Wilson Park, This is to be in® eluded in the 1963 program. Monroe Pieid: Four residents appeared in opposition to Monroe Pield being used as Little League field. West Little League representatives and Hurt Storm are to be present " at the next meeting on the proposed 1963 Public Improvement Program, Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jacobsen, that the meeting adjourn until February 18th, 1963. The meeting was called to order by the manager who announced that the purpose of the meeting was to receive, open and read aloud, sealed bids on the purchase offive trucks for the Village of Richfield as advertised in the off icial r~wspaper January 17, 1963.
