Motion by Schultz, seconded by Jacobsen, that the minutes of the bid®
opening dated Sept. 4t 1962 on 2000 water meters be approved. All ayes m

A tabulation of bids was presented with a memorandum from the village
engineer and administrative assistant to the manager as to recommendation.
Motion by Jacobsen, seconded by Shields, that the council accept the
recommendation to purchase 1000 meters each from the two lowest bidders.
This was acceptable to the bidders. All ayes -~ carried,
11. Certificate of Awaard Presented
Motion by Olson, seconded by Shields, that the councir present Ralph
Schutz with a certificate of award for outstanding service to the village,
Mr. Schutz having recently resigned as a patrolman. All apes ~- carried.
12. Hearing ° Speci~.l tTse Permit m 6520 Lyndale Ave,
Mayor Olson called for consideration of the application of Veterans
of Foreign 1~ars, Fred Babcock Post #SSSS for a special use permit, which
matter had been deferred from the mee tang of August 27th.
Mayor Olson read from the study and recommendation by engaged profes-
sional planners, Nason, Law, Wehrman & Knight, Inc.
Donald P. Lawrence, 7327 V~entworth Ave., appeared for the applicant
explaining they planned to add 1S to 20 parking areas by cutting building
length 29 feet.
Don L~+nch, 6617 Lakeshore Drive, appeared with 11 others representing
those in opposition, presenting figures on~a parking count taaken Sept. 9th.
He also presented Page 2 of a remonstrance petition filed at the August 27th
meeting (Cm6920~ containing 8 additionar names.

club in a residential area,

subject to the follovaing stipulations ; 140 parking spaces, acceptable e~c~
terior design, v~ith the request that they intend to buy the store on the
corner of Lakeshore Drive and Lyndale Ave, and other recommendations of
the professional planner.

of the resolution accepting the roll in assessing for sidewalRe Commercial,
schools, churches to be assessed at 50~ of cost; residential at 20% of cost
on abutting footage, and when a lot is ass~saed on the second side, a credit
of 2/5 of the assessment on the long side will be given.
