VILLAGE OF RICHFIELD
Special Meeting
April 17, 1962.
The council of the Village of Richf field met in special session in
the council chambers of the Village Hall, Tuesday, April 17, 1962 at 7:00
P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Olson.
Present: Anderson, Jacobsen, Schultz, Shields and Olson.
Absent: None.
Thirteen interested citizens appeared including members from the Charter
Commission. Mrs. Ross, 6425 Portland Ave., appeared in interest as to
burning weeds in Legion Lake. The council.asked for the study and find-
ings of the manager and engineer on destruction of weeds in the Woodlake
area for the Monday meeting.
A discussion was held on sodding the slopes of Wilson Park, It
was decided that these slopes should be planted in rye grass in 1962 with
the proposal to sod in 1963.
The mayor read a letter on the improvement of Sheridan Park from
James Anderson, 6445 Vincent Ave. S. The council was of the opinion that
only playground equipment should go in this park as opposed to making it a
picnic area type park.
A discussion was held on the f ini.shing of the kitchen in the comet
munity center room of the library, $10,000 was appropriated for the kit
chen with the anticipation that $5000 would be received from contributions
to supply the estimated cost of installing equipment and f inishings. The
manager was to make a determination of the estimated cost of fully equip0
ping and finishing the kitchen and give a report on what items could be
purchased with each donation of $500. The council decided that no pur~
chasing of equipment or finishing was to be decided until the entire
