Special Meeting
March 7, 1962
The council of the Village of Richfield met in special session in the
~' council chambers, Wednesday, March 7, 1962,
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Olson.
Present: Anderson, Jacobsen,. Schultz, Shields and Olson.
Absent: None.
1962 Public Works Program
A continued discussion on the public works improvement budget was held
involving tentative approval for the following:
Spraying, trimming and planting of trees.
Park Improvement and Playground Equipment.
Purchase of land. ~;

Motion by Schultz, seconded by Jacobsen, that the council authorize the
attorney to make preliminary negotiations for the purchase of properties as
presented by the manager for an estimated $61,500.00. All ayes - carried.
The meeting recessed.
The council reconvened with all members present at a joint meeting with
. tine Long Range Planning Commission members,
Several persons appeared in interest.
Reports were heard on the request of the council for alternate loca-
tions for municipal buildings. ,Don Shultheis presented the commission's stand
and reiterated the majori ty's opinion. to improve municipal buildings on the
present locations. He also stated that the- commission favored the west side
fire station to take precedence over any other building improvements.
sari Anderson read ,the minority report of the commission. The commission
was in complete agreement that a west side fire station should precede any other
building improvements,
Ralph Shinier inf ormed the council that the commission's annual report
would be forthcoming shortie,
Motion by Shields, seconded by Anderson, that the meeting be adjourned.
Ali ayes -carried.
