The council of the Village of Richfield met in regular session, Monday,
May 23, 1960, in the council chambers of the Village Hall, 6700 Portland Ave.,
at 7:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Keldsen.
Present: Anderson, Schultz, Serstock, Shields and Keldsen.
Absent: None,
Rev. M. Frederking, Berea Lutheran Church, gave the invocation,

Motion by Shields, seconded by Schultz, that the minutes., of the regular
meeting of May 99 1960 be approved, All ayes - carried.

No persons appeared or any action taken relative to the request for a
sign at Snyders Drug Store at 2956 W. 66th St.
The manager was instructed to check on the sign at Ray's Laundromat and
report at the meeting of June 13th.
14. Hearing m Special Use Permit - 6926- 32 -38 -44 Cedar Ave.
It being 7:15 P.M. Mayor Keldsen called for the hearing on the special
use permit of Thompson Homes, Inc., 12201 Minnetonka Blvd. and read the notice
of hearing.

Motion by Schultz, seconded by Shields, that the council grant the
apartment use permit to Lyle Builders, Inc.t 6701 Penn Ave,, to construct
seven 4 -unit apartment buildings at 6300-6344 Queen Ave. with the following
stipulations: fencing in the rear, no flat roofs, different color brick on
each building, and present grade to be maintained as close as possible to the
street (residents to be canvassed as to type of fence). All ayes - carried.

Motion by Serstock, seconded by Anderson, that the council authorize the
clerk to advertise for bids for the removal of barracks building #365 owned
by the Metropolitan Airports Commission to Roosevelt Park. The action taken
by the council is contingent on the fact that the South Suburban Exchange Club
will have deposited $50000 toward the estimated cost of $10,000.00. All ayes
carried.
40. Moving of Building
Motion by Schultz, seconded by Anderson, that the council approve the
moving of a house from 6204 Morgan Ave, to 6435 Logan Ave. S. All ayes
Carried. This action supersedes council action on April 25, 1960 relative

Pat Collins, 6915 Penn Ave,, presented the water problem in the neigh-
boyhood of.69th and Penn Ave. S. The engineer will investigate the condi-
tions in the area and report at a later meeting,
Dave Peterson, 6929 Penn Ave,, appeared.
Luther Daneiz, 6805 Oliver Ave., spoke of a meeting with the Red Cross;
on May 24th as to possible disaster relief. Councilman Anderson volunteered
to represent the council®

It was agreed that the manager should request the League of Women Voters
and each of the two political parties for an opinion on holding village elec-
tions with the state elections.
