Special Meeting

After due call and notice the council of the Village of Richf field met
in special session in the .council chambers at b700 Portland Ave., Thua:sdsy,
November 5t 1959 at 5:00 PaM.
Mayor Ke].dsen called the meeting to order.
Present: Schultz, Wa113ck ~.nd I~eidsen.
Absent: l~nderson,. Serstock.

A. report from Orr, Schelen, Inc, on a water system for Richf laid was:
presented. Harry May+esoa presented a summary of the report, informing the

council that Bloomington is laying/heir system to eventually hook-up to
Minne2p oils though they are drilling wails to serve the Village temporarily.
Of the two alternatives of having our own wells or hooking«~up to Minneapolis,
Mr, Mayeron recommended our hooking-up with Minneapolis.
It was:. also suggested that the Village obtain a comtz~act with Minnea-
polls for water now, even though we do not intend to use it immediately.
He stated that Minneapolis has 160,000,000 gallons per day capacity and
are presently using 50,000,000 gallons per day.
He offered the opinion that .the engineers believe we will eventually
come to a Metropolitan water system which simulates the present-sewer system.
Ile considers the other suburban areas are strongly contemplating hookxngmup
to Minneapolis.
