Board of ' Review'
July 15, 1958
Pursuant to Minnesota Statues of 1953, Sec. 274.01, the council of the
Village of Richfield met as the Board of Review at 10:00 AoM., Monday, July
1S, 1957, in the council chambers of the Village Ha11, 6700 Portland ave.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Rittell.
Present: Anderson,. Serstock, Reldsen.
Absent: Schultz & Wallick.
Also present: Roy Haeg,, County Supervisor of Assmts.
Don McCarty, Assessor
Motion by Serstock, seconded by Anderson,. that Bdward J. Moline, village
clerk, be appointed secretary of the Board. Carried..
The Board determined from the assessor that the work of assessments had
been completed and all assessments entered in the assessment book.
It was agreed without vote that the Board of Revn.ew hear any tax payer
who should appear, even though ~ ch problem was not properly in order before
the 1958 Board of Review.
Joseph trJ. Sir,, 672A- Grand Ave., appeared protesting a too high assessnment.
.I.t was agreed that the assessor and the Board of Review look at the property.
E.~AT. Strandjord, 352 Apple Lane, protested his assessment. It was agreed
that the Board would view his property.
Mrs. Lydia Dumas, ?121 - 16th Ave.., appeared. It was agreed that the
square foot measurements on her property be checked.
Mrs. Gerald Anderson, 6429 Vincent Ave., appeared regarding special as-
sessments~. It was agreed that the assessor and clerk would look into this.
Harold Johnson,, 7700 Colfax Ave., was represented by Lawrence Olson pro-
testing the valuation of his property. It was agreed to adjust the valuation
to $500.00 and an abatement was recommended.
The Board adjourned until 2.:00 P.M.
The Board reconvened at 2,; DO P.M. The meeting was called to order by
Mayor Keldsen.
Present: Anderson, Schultz,. ~Vallick and Keldsen,
Absent: Serstock.
The Board considered the assessments on business personal property.
Louis Gardners 7245 - 2nd Ave., appeared in protest to his taxes. $9000..00
was the recommended value of his property.
The Board adjourned until 7:00 P.M.
The Board reconvened a.t 7:00 P.M. with ail members present, The meeting
was called to order by Mayor Keldsen.
R, R. Mach,. 6915 Pillsbury Ave., appeared regarding an excessive valuation.
The Board agreed to visit has property.
Vernon Geeing, 6409 Clinton Ave., protested that his taxes were too~high
in relation to surrounding homes. It was agreed that the entire block be re-
assessed and reported before final action be tak en.
Milton Anderson appeared asking for information.
It was agreed that the Board of Review meet on Monday„ July 21, at 7:00
E.M, to review the homes.
Motion by AndersonA seconded by Schultz, that the meeting be adjourned
until 9:00 P.M., Monday,, Juiy ?.f8, 1958.
