1. Presentation of Award -John D. Shields
. Mayor Beidsen presented a certificate of award to John D. Shields in
recognition of his service as a councilman for the Village of Richfield from
January 1~ 1952 through December 31,. 195?.

9. Tree Planting -- Highway No. 65
Carl McBride appeared requesting the council's approval of a boy scout
and e~piorer scout project planting of 5000 evergreen trees on Highway #65
between 62nd and 78th Streets, which plan already has State Highway Department
approval.
Motion by Serstock„-s econded by Anderson, that the council thank Mr.

McBride for his interest in this matter and gave their endorsement and approval
of this project. Carried..
10. Hearing -Special Use Permit - 7032 - 24th Ave.
It being 7c15 P.M., Mayor Keldsen called for a hearing on the application
of B. H. Christian, 2201 W. 69th St. ,. fora special use permit to construct a

property owners who are not objecting to this application but who do want a

It being ?:15 P.M., Mayor xeidsen called for a hearing on the application
of Gorra Bros. Construction Co., 5730 Pleasant Ave., to rezone the south 40 ft.
of Lot 23 and the north 40 feet of Lot 22,. Block 4„ Irwindale ,Aatdition and read
the notice of hearing.

ger and attorney to draw an amendment to Ordinance No. 2.03 to be submitted at
a later meeting.
Motion by Waliickr seconded by Reldsen,, that the manager be instructed that
any application for other than double dwellings on the northerly 80 feet be
brought before the council for consideration. Carried.
Motion by Schultz,. seconded by Serstock, that the minutes show that ap-
plicant, Gorra Bros., stated that one double bungalow will be built on the
N=ly 80~feet and a single family dwelling will be built on the S'iy 60 feet

Mrs. ~Tiibert Johnsonp 7408 - 12th Ave.,, Project Committee chairman,. ap-
peered to request that the council reaffirm its support of the project to
promote the planting of flowering crab trees in the village; that the council
designate areas for planting;, and that the council allow the planting of ttno
trees at the entrance to the Village Hall during the Centennial celebration.
Motion by Anderson„ seconded by Schultz, that the manager and engineer
be instructed to cooperate with Mrs. Johnson and garden Club members in planning
the planting areas in village parks. Carried.
22. Bids - Picnic Tables
Minutes of the bid-opening of Aprii 8, 1958 on picnic tables were pre-
sented by the acting manager.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Serstock,, that the minutes of the bid-
opening of Aprii 8,, 1958 be approved. C-4907
The acting manager presented a tabulation of bids together with his
recommendation for award.
Motion by 8chuitz, seconded by Wailickr that the council accept the bid
of Haldeman Homme, Inc. for a total of $1197,90 for 22 picnic tables, being
the lowest responsible bidder meeting specifications as recommended by the
acting manager. Carried..
23. Bids - Rotary Mower

for a rotary mower & sulky.

24« Proposed Rezoning - South side of 77th St« to Service Rd._,_Nicoiiet to 3rd
The council discussed the advisability of rezoning from industrial to re-
sidential that property lying south of 77th St. to service Road north and parallel
to 78th St. and east from Nicoliet to 3rd Ave.
A. G~ Bogen appeared and advised the council that this property should
remain in the present zonir~ of industrial or be zoned to commercial.
Clarence Gross,. 7600 - 5th Ave., favored leaving the zoning as it now
stands.

indefinitely.

Councilman Serstock reported on the Lions Ciub horse show proposed to be
held in Augsburg Park on May 30„ 1958.
Motion by Serstock„ seconded by Wallick,, that the manager inform the
Lions ~'iub of the council's approval to hold a horse show in Augsburg Park on
May 30,, 1958 with clean-up of the park a requirement, and that the recreation

28. Railroad & Warehouse Commission - Increase of Pares.
A notice of hearing before the Railroad and Warehouse Commission of the
State of Minnesota (RRCC Docket No. 409) dated March 28, 1958 was read, an-
nouncing a hearing for April 29„ 1958 at 9:30 A.M. in Rm. 470 of the State
Office Bldg.. in St. Paul.
Motion by Serstock,, seconded by Schultz,. that Councilman Serstock be
authorized to attend the hearing as official representative of the Village

29. Cancellation of Special. Assessments
The problem of cancellation of special assessments and the problem of
preparing the assessments for 195? construction were brought before the council.
The council was of the opinion that-these problems should be considered at a
later meeting called for that specific purpose.
30. Authorize Execution of Contract - Mobile Radio Bngineering, Inc.
Motion by Waliick,, seconded by Serstock„ that the following resolution be
adopted; that it be spread in the resolution book and that it be made a part
