Motion by Serstock,, seconded by Schultz that inasmuch as no applica- tion should have been accented for a gasoline filling station within 300 feet of school property,. the council is unable to grant or deny this re- quest and that for that reason, the $10.00 fee paid by Esther Burwell, 7101 Park Ave., sha.il be refunded forthwith. Set Date of Hearing to Vacate Portion Rae Drive Motion by Wallick,. seconded by Shields, that the petition of James T. Rae, 901 Rae Drive, requesting the vacating of the west portion of Rae _4- Pebruary 11! 1957 Drive at the lower end be accepted and filed, and that the council authorize the clerk to advertise a hearing on the vacating for March 11, 1957. Hearing - Land Division - 7001-18th Ave. It being 7:30 P.M., Alayor Kitten called for the hearing on the request of Clarence Christian, 1100 E. 66th St. for a division of land and read the notice of hearing. Motion by Shields, seconded by Schulte, that the hearing be closed. Carried. Motion by Waliick, seconded by Serstock, that the council accept and f lie the letter from the Richfield Garden Club dated February 4,. 195?. C-4449 Motion by 69ailickz seconded by Serstockg that the council endorse the position of the Richfield Garden Club in the promotion of planting of re- commended varieties of flowering crab trees in the village, and that the manager consider flowering crab trees in purchasing for village planting, also that the residents be encouraged to plant these trees. Commercial Building Permit - 7538 Lyndale Ave. The application of Walter Ciarkep 3900 - 4th Ave. 5., for a commercial L -8- February 11~ 1957 building permit to construct a building at 7538 Lyndale Ave. S. was pre- rented. , Motion bq Serstockp seconded by Shields, that the request of Walter Clarke, 3900 - 4th Ave.. S., for a commercial building permit to construct a building at 7538 Lyndale Ave. S. to be used for an appliance repair shop be deferred until the next regular meeting. Carried. 21, Recreation_Pragram .Burton Storm, recreation director for the village, appeared to explain to the council Richfield's recreation facilities, A discussion followed. Motion by Waliidk, seconded by Serstock~ that the council accept and file the report on Richfield's recreation facilities-submitted by Mr, Storm.
