Renaming of Mud Lake The manager read a letter from the American Legion Post #435 dated August 2,. 1956, requesting tha"t the existing name of "Mud Lake" be changed to "Legion Lake". A discussion followed. Motion by Schnitz, seconded by Shields, that action on this matter be deferred for two weeks. Carried. 9.~,Rec~uest for Minneapolis Water Connection The manager read a letter from Anderson-Butler Construction Co., 8901 Lynda2e Ave. S., requesting permission from the Village council to connect a home at 6201 Thomas Ave. S. to the Minneapolis water system. Motion by Shields, seconded by Schultz, that the council grant permis- sign to Anderson Butte r Construction Co., 8901 Lyndale Ave. S., to connect a new dwelling at 6201 Thomas Ave. S., to the Minneapolis water system, with the stipulation that they would reconnect to the Richfield system when it exists. Carried. 10~~~~le~Ction of Advance Payment of Special Assessments • Motion by Shields, seconded by Schnitz, that the Village Treasurer be authorized to accept advance payments of special assessments during the month 1 -4- August 13, 1956 of September, 1956, in accordance with Resolution No. 451, dated July 26, 1954, and that he also be authorized to advertise such collection in the of- ficiai newspaper. The manager presented the minutes of the bid-opening of August 7, 1956, on painting of the interior of the village Halls together with a tabulation of bids and his recommendation for award. Motian by Wallick, seconded by Shields, that the minutes of the bid- opening of Aug. ?, 1956, on painting the interior of the village Hall be accepted and filed. Carried. C-4267 Motion by Shields, seconded by Wallick, that the council accept the low bid of Burger Decorating Co. to paint the interior of the village Hall at a total cost of $668.OA as recommended by the manager. Carried. 38. Bids - Police Fatrol Coach The manager presented the minutes-.~~f.the bid-opening of August 8, 1956, fora polio patrol coach, together with a tabulation of bids and his recommendation that the bid be not accepted. Motion by Wallick, seconded by Schultz, that the minutes of the bid- opening of August 8, 1956, for a patrol coach for the police department be accepted and filed. Carried. C-4268 _14_ August l3, 1956 ' Motion by Wallick, seconded by Shields, that the council reject the single bid for a police patrol coach and readvertise for bids about Octo- ber 1, 1956. Carried. 39. Hearing - Vacate Alley - "The Pines'"~ It being 8:30 P.M., Mayor Kittell called for the hearing on vacating west of the a1].ey/of 2nd Ave. between 68th and 69th Streets, and read the notice of hearing. The manager reported that a storm sewer has been constructed in this alley. Allen T. Rorum appeared before the council as spokesman for a group of property owners objecting to vacating this alley. He: presented a peti- tion containing 14 names of interested property owners. Motion by Wallick, seconded by Shields, that the council accept and file the petition of remonstrance containing l4 names of property owners. CarriecL. C-4269 The manager presented a petition signed by seven property owners re- questing the vacating of the alley, which petition had been presented at the previous meeting. A discussion was held. Motion by Shields, seconded by Schultz, that the hearing be closed. Carried. Motion by Shields, seconded by Serstock,. that the request to vacate the alley on the west side of 2nd Ave. between 68th and 69th Streets (being adjacent to Lots 43 through 58, Western Surety and Adjustment Co.
