inform the Public Works Department to use Village labor, materials and °equipment-
for maintenance work only•and not'for construction. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Rose, that the council authorize the
manager to, prepare 'the 1956 budget to allow pay for overtime for regular duties

at one and ,one -half of the regular pay rate,.except for overtime work by manager,
department heads and diVision. heads, Police,and Fire Departments; and -that the

personnel ordinance be amended to 'so provide. Carried.
Motion by Walters, seconded by Vall ck, that the manager'be instructed
to prepare an amendment to the., personne I ordinance to delete -range and step in-

ciements,,. and to substitute therefor provision for a probationary pay rate and
permanent pay rate; ;.`.such amendment to be presented for passage in July of 1956
to take effect, January 1, 1957. Carried.

Motion by INTallick, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase engineer aide III from Range 30 to Range 31, with merit in-
crease to be considered as the individuals qualify. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase the assistant purchasing agent from Range 30 to Range 35 with
merit increase to be considered as the individual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Rose, seconded by Shields, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase the assistant liquor store manager from Range 31 to Range 32,
with merit increase to be considered as the individual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase police sergeant from Range 32 to Range 35, with merit increase
to apply as the individuals qualify. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase civil.engineer I from Range 32 to Range 34, merit increase to
apply as the individuals qualify. Carried.
Motion by Rose, seconded by Shields, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase superintendent of sewers from Range 33 to Range 35, merit-
increase to be considered as the individual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to establish the position of accountant in Range 34, merit increase to
apply as the individual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase the street.foreman from Range 34 to Range 36, merit increase
to apply as the individual qualifies. Carried.

Motion-by Shields, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase the building inspector, sewer inspector, plumbing inspector,
civil engineer II from Range 35 to Range 36, merit increases to apply as the in-
dividual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase the fire chief and police chief from Range 36 to Range 38,
merit increases to apply as the individual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Rose, seconded by [,:'alli ;k, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget so that the chief inspector remains in Range 39, merit increases to ap-
ply as the - individual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Shields, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget so that civil engineer III remains at Range 39, merit - increases to apply
as the individual qualifies. Carried.
Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to increase the superintendent of streets from Range 39 to Range 40,'
merit increase to apply as the individuals qualify. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget to set the salary of the electrical inspector at $250.00 and assistant
electrical inspector at $200.00. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Shields, that the manager prepare the
1956 budget to set the salary of the health officer at $25.00 per month. Carried.
Motion by Wallick, seconded by Rose, that the manager prepare the 1956
budget so that,the salaries of the mayor, council and judge remain as at present._.
Carried.
