ADJOURNED MEETING
March 3~,~ 1955
Pursuant to council action of February 28, 1965, an ad3ourned meeting
of the Village council of the Village of Richfield, Minnesot~ac was duly held
at the Village Hall, b700 Portland Ave., South, on Thursday, March 3, 1955, at
7:00 P. M;.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kitten.
Present: Walters,hRose, Shields, Wallick and Kitten.
Absent: None.
1. Highway Improvements
Mayan Kittell~ announced that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss
the proposed improvements to Trunk H ighway #l~ arm Trunk Highway #36.
0. B. Strand appeared as spokesman for property owners on 78th St.
Walter Schultr~e, Minna Department of Highways, spoke for the Highw2~r
Department.
E. J. NicCubrey, Minn. Depta of Hip,~-ways, also spoke for the Highway
Department.
Oa B. Strand said 78th St. Proper~q Owners Ass ~n was opposed to plans
as submitted by the Highway Department; they are in favor of an improvement
of the standard type highwayo
The following businessmen and property owners. on 78th St. opposed the
proposed highway improvement;
W. B. Ehrhardt, 429 E. 7$th St, John Ea Labo, 1916 W. 78th St.
Clyde Ea Sullivan, 116 W. 78th St.. Lawrence L._ Newhouse, 708 E. 78th St.
M. M. Rudoy, 1924 Wa 78th St.. (has. tTr~ businesses on 78th St.)
Andrew Clausen, 78th & Cedar R. W. Farnsworth, 3948 Nicollet Ave.

~ 0.~ B. Strand, upon being questioned, stated that, in his opinion, the

improving the present highway, but not as proposed in the present pans; an
alterra~tive would ba to locate the highway farther south..
Mrs, NTe].son, 78th & Park eve., spoke in favor of the servic® roads.
Mr' McCubray explained that an improved cornrentional type of highway
would be unsatisfactory.
Carl. McBride, representing the Chamber of Co~er~e, was present.
