09-13-1954REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE CF RICHFIELD SEWENBER 132 1954 The council of the Village cf Richfield met in regular session in.the council chambers of the Village Hall, 6700 Portland Ave. South at 7 :00 P. 14. on Monday, September 13, 1954, at 7:00 P. M. The meting was called to order by Mayor Kittell. 1. Minutes Present: Walters, Rose, Wal lick and Kittell. Absent: None. Rev. Wm. A. Brand, St. Peter's Church, gave the invocation. Motion by Wallick, seconded by Shields, that the minutes of the regular meeting of August 23, 1954 be approved. Carried. 2. Shopping Center - Chicago & 72nd St. Lee Williams, 738 Midland Bldg., attorney representing John Burwell, developer, appeared before the council to explain the proposed shopping center on the east side of Chic ago Ave. between 71st and 72nd Sts. Bernard Mulcahy, 7139 Columbus Ave., appeared as spokesman for a. delegation of property afners who were present to inquire as to certain uses., The following persons appeared and spoke: Darwin P. Zimmerman, 71.Qp 5th Ave,., also spoke in favor of the improvement but opposed the assessment« G. C Hooker, 71,00 Portland Ave., was opposed to paying the assessment, Mrs.-C. Zimmerman, 7100 5th Ave., objects to location of stop signs and wants improvement for safety.
