F4 , The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kittell, Mayor Kittell read the notice of hearing of this meeting. } Present: Rose$, Shields, Wa]lick and Kittell. ;x Absent: Walters. Mayor Kittell called attention to inaccuracies of the zoning map on 78th St. between Aldrich and Emerson. IL 1, 78th St. between Aldrich and Emerson Mr. John Gaylord, 7344 Harriet Ave., presented a petition of 400 names protesting the general industrial zoning of the areas bounded by Tyndale and Pleasant between 74th and 752 Streets and Grand and Pleasant Avenues between ?3rd and 74th. Motion by Wallick, seconded by Shields, that the Council accept and file the petition as presented. Carried. C -1477. Mr. W. 0. Johnston, 7339 Harriet Ave., appeared in opposition to the above described area.9 but not against such zoning along Lyndale Ave. Mr, Frank Rance.9 7327 Harriet Ave. also appeared in opposition to general industrial zoning of same areae Mr. Don Snow, 7532 Garfield Ave. made the same objection... Mr. Bob Warnken, 7645 Harriet Ave. 2 living immediately south of the first described area was opposed to the general industrial zoning on the north, thereby encircling his area. i i Area around 66th and Lyndale Ave. J E. D. Posz, 920 W. 66th St, presented a petition with 108 signatures Y s protesting the rezoning from residential "to commercial.of that area bounded by the Post Office on the east, southerly to East Lake Shore Drive and East Lake Shore Drive to West 66th. St. & Grass Lake on ths.north. , Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose, that the Council accept and file =4 this petition. Carried. C -1478 Mr, James Rae, 901 Rae Drive, spoke in favor of the proposed commercial zoning. Mr. Art Stromblad, 927 W. 66th St.. spoke in opposition tD the proposed commercial zoning. Mr,. Harry Billings., 6610 Graham Ave., offered his objection to the pro- posed commercial rezoning. a$ R �� Y i J -5- may 27 ., 1954 Lyndale Ave. -P]e asant- --66th and 67th Dr. E. E. Ahren, 6709 Harriet Ave., opposed the commercial zoning on the southeast corner of this area. Leonard Carlson, 6616 Grand Ave., spoke in opposition to commercial zoning. Harley Wishart, 6701 Harriet Ave., was opposed to commercial zoning. E. W. Culnane, 6737 Harriet Ave., spoke in favor of leaving the deed restrictions as they are. Mrs. Charlotte Strom, 6700 Garfield Ave., spoke in opposition to the proposed zoning. Mr. Thomas Burniece, 6645 Lyndale Ave., opposed the proposed zoning if the taxes would be raised, but declared that he was neutral if -the taxes would remain the same. Lyndale to Pleasant --62nd to 66th R. A. Bridenbach, 6431 Grand Ave., opposed the changing of zoning in -or industrial classification. William Conant, 6217 Harriet Ave., opposed the changing of zoning in this area. J. A. Carr, 6208 Harriet Ave., offered objections to industrial zoning. 0. K. Nelson, 6533 Grand Ave., was opposed to the change of zoning. ' 9 Jerome Lee, 400 W. 66th St., spoke in favor of the change in zoning. He was-in favor of an over -all master zoning plan., Gunnar Ahlquist, 7100 Oak Grove Blvd., and 6463 Lyndale Ave. S., favors the change of zoning wi th restriction that whole blocks be developed. Arnold I. Heikkenen, 6545 (Nand Ave., was in favor of commercial zoning of whole area and especially 66th St.. 0 U
