Tha council of the Village of Richfield met in regular session in the council chambers of the Village Hall, 6700 Portland Avenue South at 7;(,~ P. N~. o`ri Monday, January 25, 1954. Reverend ~skn. A. Brand, St. Peters Church' gave an invocation. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ri.ttell. „~ Present: Walters, .rose, Shields, Wallick and Kittell. Absent; Nona. ~ 1. Minutes. ~ Motion by hose, seconded by Shields' 'that the minutes of the regular meeting of January 11, 1954 be accepted. Lawrence ©1son, attorney, representing Valdemar Rasmussen, Camille H. She asked that bar name be withdrawn from the pets. t3on. Halvor Hennes, 7300 Portland Avenue South, appeared and spoke 3n favor of the petitioners. He stated that__the petition circulated showed plainly that it was a request for commercial zoning. Valdemar Rasmussen spdke on behalf of fibs petitioners. Several residents of the area spoke in opposition. Motion by Walters, seconded by Rose, that the cotahcil tentatively approve . the plat of Petitts 2nd Addition, Plat No. 91 and that the Engineer prepare a developers contract t~ritla Mr. Petit and submit it for the councils approval. Carried. 5. Bids Closed. Tt being 8:00 P. M. mayor K'ttte]1 called for submi<~ision of any bids not already filed with the Clerk. Mnt~.on by Rose, seconded by Shields, that the-bids be closed. Carried. 6. Additional Police Protect~.on at Hub Shopping Center. Bud Mabrr, secretary of the Hub business meats group, appeared to in- quire abut additional police protection at the Hub Shopping Center daring the proposed grand opening. ~3.scnssion ensued. Motion by Walters, second~l by Wallick, that the council refer the probleom of additional police protection at the Nub Shopping Center to the Manager and Chief of Police far study and recom+aeadation at the next regu]~ar ' meeting.
