VILLAGE OF RICHFIELD REGULAR MEETIN G November 9, 1953 The Coune3.l of -the Village of Richfield met in regular session 3.rz the counca.l chambers of the Village Ha11, 6700 Portland Avenue South at 7 ~ P. M. on Monday,, November 9, 1953. 2'he meeting eras called to order by Mayor Keller. Present: Rose, Shields, Iverson sand: Re11e r. Absent: Walters. 1. Minutes, ~, Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose that the council approve and accept the y~ minutes of the regular meeting of October 2b, 1953. Police Department ' October 1953 C-1200 f - Carried. Councilman Walters took his cha3d'. 3. Street Improvement -Wexler Addition. Mayor Re11er read a petition of twenty-taRro property o~mers relatLve to street improvements in Wexler' Addi tiara. C-1201. A~ayor Keller a1s.o read a memorandum from the Village Engineer relative to street improvement in Wexler Addition. C-1202. Walter Couillard, 672b 18th Avenue South appeared as spokesman for a group of petata.oners who were present. Mayor Re11er explained to the group the policies of the council in avoiding double assessments. He explained that Mr. Wexler has defaulted on a bond and that negot3at3ons with the bonding company have dust now been completed. There followed a discussion on the present condition of the street and altem.ative remedial measures. Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose that the street department begin immediately to oil the streets in Wexler+s Addition in their present condition. Carried. Being 8 P. M. Mayor Keller called for bids on Rotary Type Files. 4. Petition -Storm Sewer --Lynwood Blvd. - .Motion by Walters, seconded by Iverson that the following resolution be adopted; that it be spread in the resolution book and that it be made a part of these minutes. Mayor Re11er read the notice of publication and explained that it would be- necessary to continue the hearing until the next regular meeting. Several persons appeared and spole in favor of vacating this alley. No persons appeared in opposition to vacating this alley -South of the South lot line of Lot 4, extended. Motion by Walters, s econded by Rose that the council continue the hearing to vacate alley in Block 6, Ray's Lynnhurst Addition until 8 P. yi. Monday, November 23, 1953 and authorize the Clerk to authorize such hearing. Carried. 6. Bids -Rotary T,y~, e Files. Being 8:15 P. M. Mayor Reller called for the opening of bids on Rotary Type Files and read the notice of publica.ti~.. Motion by Rose, seconded by Iverson that the purchase of Rotary Type Files be referred to the Finance Co~nittee for its meeting of December 7, 1953 and that a representative of the Counter Auditor's office be invited to attend to discuss special assessments. Carried. 7. Hearing to Vacate 63rd Street. Mayor Reller read the peta.tion and notice of hearing. Nonpersons appeared for or against vacating 63rd Street from a point 35 feet West of the West line of 17th Avenue to the West line of Cedar Avenue._ Motion by Walters, seconded by Rose that the hearing be eontanued un~:1. 8 P.
