Pursuant to-due call and notice thereof the Council of the Village of
Ra.chfield met in special session in the Village Hall at 7 P.M. on Monday, May !~, 1953.
On roll call there were present:

1. Hearing. Village Project # 172.
Mayor Roller read the notice of hearing on proposed street improvement
Village Project ~ 172. No objections were voiced. '
Motion by Iverson, seeded by Shields that the hearing be closed. Carried.
Motion by Shields, seeded by Iverson that the following resolution be adopted;
that it be spread in the resolution book and that it be made a art of these minutes.

Motion by Shields, seconded by Rose that the Woodhead Company, Inc., be
determined to be the lowest responsible bidder, and their bid for the 1953 Ford
Police Special with 125 H.P. motor, in 'the amount of X750.00 be accepted; and that
the checks of the unsuccessful bidders bereturned. Cari~ed.

Being 8 P. M., iiayor Keller called for any further bids on the Sanitary
Sewer Project # 1?9. No further bids were smbmitted.

Motion by Walters, seconded by Iverson that the following licenses be
approved subject 'to the Village Attomney's approval of the required bonds.

Motion by Walters, seconded by Rose that the application of the Lu11
P~hgineering Company for an addition to a commercial building at 7716 Cedar Avenue,

8. Bids. Sanitary Beaver Project # 179.
Being 8:15 P.M., Mayor Keller read the notice of advertisement for bids on
Sanitary sewer project # 1'79. The bids were opened and read aloud. -

10. Applications.
Motion by Rose, seconded by Shields for unanimous consent to c~sider
applications of Myron Patterson and Sam Ruiman for licenses. Carried.

licenses bergranted; (1) Myron Patterson, 8721 Nicollet Avenue, Wagon-peddler and
soft drinks; (2} Sazn Rutman, 6ld.1.2 Lyndale Ave. South, Food and soft drink licenses;
and hold in abeyance the application of sam Rutman for anoff-sale beer license
until the necessary police report has been received. Carried.
11. Drainage. L,gndale Avenue and 66th street. .
Mott ~~n by Iverson, seconded by Walters for unanimous consent to consider the
drainage and surfacing of streets at the intersection end T.~mdale avenue and 66th Scree
Carried.
Motion by Iverson, seconded by Rose that the Village ~gineer be authorized
to discuss with the property owners the matter of drainage and surfacing the streets
at Lyndale Avenue and 66th Street. Carried.
12. Information Pamphlet.
Councilman Rose brought up the matter of information pamphlets circulated with
the homestead application blanks. Discussion ensued. The Village Manager exhibited
the budget to show that the funds had been provided for printing and distrmbuting
such report. I'~. Rose asked to be placed on record as opposing the circulation of
this report.
13. Temporary Plumbing inspector.
The Village Manager .reported on his hiring of a temporary plumbing inspector
to act during the vacation of the regular plumbing inspector. Discussion followed.
Motion by Iverson, seconded by Walters tY~at the manager be authorized to fill
the position of plumbing inspector on a temporary basis at range 3L~, step ~C, of the
pay scale set forth in the personnel ordinance, during the vacation and/or sick
leave of the regular plumbing inspector. The salary of the temporary plumbing
inspector to be paid as authorized in the budget. Carried.
