Motion by Shields, seconded by Iverson that the council go on record as being unalterably apposed to a bill introduced in the Minnesota Legislature as S. F. 1023 and H. F. 1313 because the bill, as we understand it, would enabAe the •city of Minneapolis to tax the income or business earnings of persons who work in the city, whether they live 3n the city or not.. Since hundreds of Richfield __~...~' n, 1 i residents are in the position of deriving their income in the city, this bill is important to them. We believe such taxation to be unfair, since the revenue derived from such taxes would be used solely for the costs and welfare of the city of Minneapolis, and Richfield residents have no vote on such expenditures or the persons who administer the moneys. In other words,. it would be taxation without representation. Carried. Clerks file C-520. ~ a o 0 34. Protest in increase in Natural Gas rates.
