Pursuant to due call and notice thereof,a regular meeting of the Village
Cpuncil of the Village of Richfield was duly held at the Village Hall Monday,
October 13,1952,opening at 7 o~clock p.m.

1. Minutes of Previous: Meeting.
Motion by Walters, seconded by Shields, that the minutes of the October
6th meeting be approved. Carried.
2 Relief Report
Motion by Walters, seconded by Shields, that the relief report for the
month of September be received and placed on file. Carried.
3. Letter-•~Teoddale Baptist Church '
Motion by Walters, seconded by Shields, that the letter from the Wooddale
Baptist 'Church expressing appreciation to the cca~ancil for not opening a
cocktail' lounge be received and placed on file. Carried.

Motion by Shields, seconded by Walters, that the letter from Fred and
Mary Fredrick opposed to rezoning from commerical to residential at the
corner of 70th and Chicago Avenue be referred to the Zoning Commission for
comments: Carried.
5• Acceptance of Bids
A: Calcium Chloride and Rock Salt
The engineer submitted the following tabulation of bids received at the
previous°meeting on calcium chloride and rock salts
(See abstract of bids)
Motion by Walters, seconded by Shields, that the low bid of the Hopkins
Home and°Auto Supply Company for calcium chloride at l~8.00 per ton be accepted,
and that certified checks of unsuccessful bidders be returned. Carried.
Motion by Lindeberg, seconded by Shields, that the ~.ow bid of the Cutler i
Magner Company for rock salt in the amount of ~16.1G per ton, be accepted, and
that the certified checks of unsuccessful bidders•be returned. Carried. °
B. Snow Plows
The engineer submitted t`he following tabulation on bids received at the
previous meeting on snow plows:

machine be accepted, and that the checks of the unsuccessful bidders be

2nd Addition from re~.dental to~commerical be referred to the Zoning Commission
for a public hearing on Tuesday,October 28. Carried. ,

A petition was presented relaptive to the condition of streets in Wexler':

file, and that the manager be instructed to notify the bondkng companq that Mr.
Wexler has -failed to comply with the terms of the contract. Carried.
Motion-by welters, seconded by Shields, that the engineer review the pro-
blem in Wexl,sr's Addition and furnish-a preliminary cost estimate for drainage
of that area.. -Carried.
17, Grading 18th Ave.So.
A petition was presented requesting the grading of 18th Avenue South from
_ the cuter line of 74th Street east to 363 feet south of the said center line.

18. Fairwood Park Directional Signs _
The request for directional signs for Fairwood Park was discussed and
the matter of such signs for all parks was referred to the manager for study
and recommendation.
19. School Signals
Motion by Walters, seconded by Lindeberg, that the manager be authorized
to advertise for bids on the installation of school signals at the Elliott and
Sheridan schools. Carried.

Motion by Walters, seconded py Lindeberg, that the council offer no
objection to the request of L.H.Norby for the issuance of building permits
as f~ll~rings on the north 672 feet of Lot $, Block 1, Richfield Center.;
and on the ~SOUth 72 feet of Lot 8, Block 1, Richfield Center together
with the vacated street adjacent thereto (E. 69th). Carried

Motion by Li_ndeberg,seconded by Shields, that the payroll. in the
amount of $8,701.82 for the first half of October,1952, and claims totalling
X22,559.99 and numbered from 3135 to and including 3183 as found in the Clerks
Record of Receipts and Disbursements b'e approved. Carried.
