RESOLUTION RELATING TO PROPOSED
- METROPOLITAN TRANSIT BUS GARAGE ON
12TH AVENUE ADJACENT TO INTERSTATE 494
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transit Commission (MTC)
proposes to establish a large new bus garage facility on 12th
Avenue adjacent to Interstate 494 in the City of Bloomington,
and
WHEREAS, in the absence of additional ramps connecting
such proposed garage with Interstate 494, it is anticipated
that there will. be very heavy use of the 12th Avenue bridge
and adjacent streets in the City of Richfield, and
WHEREAS, such, use of Richfield streets will tend to create
an intolerable traffic burden in the City of Richfield, and
WHEREAS, the burden of traffic upon streets in and near the
City of Richfield can be met or aided by the use of non-residential
streets in~the City of Bloomington adjacent to such proposed bus
garage, particularly the south service drive and`79th Street. j.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the city council of the
City of Richfield as follows:
1. In the event that the MTC locates its proposed bus garage
facility at 12th Avenue and Interstate 494, the MTC•is urged to
take whatever measures may be necessary to make use of commercial
and industrial streets in the City of Bloomington as a means of
access to and from such facility and to avoid the use of streets
serving residential and multiple residential property in the City
of Richfield for that purpose.

Metropolitan Transit Commiss~.on, •
