RESOLUTION NO. 5354
RESOLUTION OPPOSING AMENDMENTS TO
S. F. 1009 AND H.F. 1169 RELATING TO
LICENSING OF VENDING MACHINES
° WHEREAS, the City of Richfield has a comprehensive program
for regulating, inspecting and licensing vending machines, and
WHEREAS, recently passed amendments to S. F. 1009 and
H.F. 1169 would place licensing of vending machines within the
State Department of Agriculture and pre-empt licensing of vending
machines by local municipalities, and
WHEREAS, the pre-emption of this activity by a state agency
is an infringement upon rights of local government to provide for
• the protection of its residents through inspection and licensing
•~ : ~ ' program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE SOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Richfield opposes any amendments to S. F. 1009 and
H.F. 1169 which would pre-empt local municipalities from licensing
vending machines and urges its representatives in this legislature
to oppose passage of said legislation.
