RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AIvIENDMENTS
TO THE OPEN MEETING LAW
WHEY;LAS, the City of Richfield, Minnesota supports the ~,7tent of the
open meeting law which is to have the public business conducted openly
so th~~t the public can be informed of the decisions and actions being taken,
and
WHEREAS, nevertheless there are certain matters of a confidential nature
which may not be in the public interest at a particular time t~ disclose pub-
licly, and
WHEREAS, the Attorney General has rendered an opinion which appears to
be more restrictive than the legislature intended.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RICHFIELD, MINNESOTA respectfully urges the Minnesata State Legislature
to consider changes to the open meeting law which would pro~,.ide for amend-
ments to the law as proposed in the draft legislation submitted by the League
of Minnesota Municipalities, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to
the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Members of the Stare Legislature
and the League of Minnesata Municipalities.
