RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 5121+ 'I'0 ALLOW
PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF 70TH STREET FROM
PORTLAND AVENUE TO NICULLET AVENUE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield, as follows:
1. Resolution No. 5121+ is hereby amended to read as followse

RESOLt?TION RELATING TO DESIGN OF 70TH STREET BETWEEN
PORTLAND ,AND LYNDALE AVENUES, A STATE AID STREET
WHEREAS, 70th Street between Portland and Lyndale Avenues is designated as a Municipal
State Aid Street, and
WFIEREAS, the City has ordered the reconstruction and improvement of said street, wi~'_^
the installation of permanent street surfacing, concrete curbs and gutters, and street
lighting, and
WHEREAS, the District State Aid Engineer of the Minnesota Highway Department has
recommended that such street be constructed to a 1+1+ foot traveled roadway width to meet
the state's standard design for municipal state aid streets and to serve the objectives of
traffic safety, and
WHEREAS, the amount of loading and unloading of school buses on said street adjacent
to Richfield High School has been voluntarily reduced and traffic safety can be further
~,mproved by prohibiting parking on both sides of such street.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield as follows:
1. The City Council, having explored all alternatives, including the safety
considerations cited by the Minnesota Highway Department and having concluded
that the benefits of constructing 70th Street between Portland and Lyndale
Avenues at a 36 foot width outweigh the benefits of a 1+1+ foot width at this
particular location, it is hereby determined to proceed with the improvement
of said municipal state aid street with a 36 foot traveled roadway.
2. Upon completion of such improvement, or any segment thereof, parking on
both sides of said street shall be prohibited from Nicollet Avenue to Lyndale
Avenue and on the South. side of such street from Portland Avenue to Nicollet
Avenue.
