1974-5162rRESOLUTIOlVT N0. 7162 RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 5124 WHEREAS, it was the intention of the City Council to proceed with the improvement of 70th Street between Portland Avenue and Lyndale Avenue, and WHEREAS, it was the intention of the City Council to designate the entire length of 70th Street from Portland Avenue to Lyndale Avenue as a 36 foot traveled roadway, and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7124 referred to only that section of 70th Street between Nicollet and Lyndale Avenues. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield, as follows: 1. Resolution No. 5124 is hereby amended to read as follows: RESOLUTION N0. 5124 RESOLUTION RELATING TO DESIGN OF 70TH STREET BETWEEN PORTLAND AND LYNDALE AVENUES, A STATE AID STREET WHEREAS, 70th Street between Portland and Lyndale Avenues is designated as a Municipal State Aid Street, and WHEREAS, the City has ordered the reconstruction and improvement of said street, with the installation of permanent street surfacing, concrete curbs and gutters, and street lighting, and WHEREAS, the District State Aid Engineer of the Minnesota Highway Department has ° recommended that such street be constructed to a 44 foot traveled roadway width to meet the state's standard design for municipal state aid streets and to serve the objectives of traffic safety, and WHEREAS, the amount of loading and unloading of school buses on said street adjacent to Richfield High School has been voluntarily reduced and traffic safety can be further improved by prohibiting parking on both sides of such street. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield, as follows: 1. The City Council, having explored all alternatives, including the safety considerations cited by the Minnesota Highway Department and having concluded that the benefits of constructing 70th Street between Portland and Lyndale Avenues at a 36 foot width outweigh the benefits of a 44 foot width at this particular location, it is hereby determined to proceed with the improvement of said municipal state aid street with a 36 foot traveled roadway.
