WHEREAS, &~he R.++,chfi~ld School District does not now have sFvuimml.ng pools
which could enhance the physical, ~~xaental and social development of Ri.chfi.eld
youth served by the Richfield School District, and
WHEREAS, the Richfield School District is known throughout tlae metropolitan
a~~Foa as an outstanding school systes~, bu*~ is the onr~y maJor school district and
the only system wi~hin the Lake Conference that does not provide swimming pools
for educa bona! purpc~s~ s , and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Richfield recogri~es the need for
construction of swimming pools for educational purposes within the school districts
and further believes that such pools wi~l lie of benefu.t to the entire community when
made available by the schooa district for recrea~'~iona~ and instzuctionai. use after
school. hours including weekends and summer vacation time.
NOWo THE~REFORF<y BF IT RL~SOLVED that the City Council of thy; City of Richfield
suppcfi°ts the construction cif swlm~~inct pools at F~acl~ of tie t~~vc~ Juni~~r hl.g x schools
and encoua•ag~as the RiclT~field ~>chool Board to proceed with. thF, construc°~ion of these
pools as quickly as possil/!e.
