RRSOLIJTION CONCF;RNINO SOUTH HFNNFPIN TRANSIT ST~~TDY
WHF,RFAS; a South Hennepin Transit Study has beery proposed by the
~/Ietropolitan Transit Commission to include a long°range plan for rapid transit
and a program to meet short°range needs but with emphases to be placed ®n
long°range planning; and
WHFRFASo a need exists for both a long°range rapid transit solution and
an immediate short°range mass transit program in South Hennepin County; and
WI-IERLAS,; the City of Rice~faeld h.as pre~riously participated en a transit
study of the I°494m100 corridor area which. is under consideration at the present
tune.
NOW, TH~RFFORF o RR IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Richfield supports a South Hennepin Transit Study but urges that the first priority
of the study be directed to the development and implementation of immediate
short°range programs to improve bus service for residents liveng irs this area .
