RESOLUTION NO, 5154
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LEGISLATION PROVIDING
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER
STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY 36 TO SERVE TAFT PARK
WHEREAS, the construction of Highway 36 effectively separates and isolates
the residential neighborhood to the east of this highway from Taft Park located in
a general area along Highway 36 and north of 63rd Street, and
WHEREAS, Taft Park has recently been developed into a neighborhood playfield
and recreational area, and
WHEREAS, one of the neighborhoods designed to be served by this facill"ty is
that neighborhood east of Highway 36; and
WHEREAS, the State Highway Department has conducted a feasibility study for
the construction of a pedestrian overpass at this general location, and
WHEREAS, a bill has been introduced appropriating money and providing for
construction of a pedestrian overpass at this location.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richfield
that the city council supports this proposed legislation providing for construction
of this pedestrian bridge by the State of Minnesota.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is directed to send copies of
this resolution to Richfield Legislators and chairmen of the appropriate legislative
committees.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Richfield this 11th day of February,
1974.
