RESOLUTION RELATING TO DESIGN OF 70TFI STREET
BETWEEN NICOLLET AND ]:,~TDALE AVENUES, A STATE AID STREET
WHEREAS, 70th Str°eet faetvv~-yen Nicollet and ~,yndale Avenues is d~;signated as
a municipal state aid street and,
WHEREAS, the City has ordered the reconstruction acid improvement of such
street, with the installation of permanent street surfacing, concrete curbs and
gutters, and street lighting arid,
~~~HEREAS, the District State Aid Engineer of the Minnesota Highway Departrarer~t
a~as recommended that such street be constructed to a 44 foot traveled roadway
~v~.th to meet the state's standard design for municipal state aid streets ar~d io
serve the objectives of traffic safety, and
WHEREAStl the amount of loading and unloading ~f school buses on said street
adjacent to Richfield High School has been voluntarily reduced and traffic safety
can be further improved by prohibiting parking on bath. sides of such street.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resol~.~ed by the City Courzcii of the City of Richfield
as follows:
1 . The City Council, having ~;xplored all alternatives y including the safety
considerations cited by the Minnesota Highway i~epartment, and having con
eluded that the benefits of t.~onstructing 70th Street betwe~.n Nicollet and L~yn=-
dale Avenues at a 36 foot width outweigh the benefits of a 44 foot width at
this particular location, i.t is hereby determined to proceed with the improve-~
meat of said municipal state aid street with a 36 foot traveled r°oad°vvay,

2. Upon completion of such improvement, or any segment thereof,
parking on both sides of said street shall be prohibited and suitable
signing to that effect shall be installed.
