RESOLUTION OPPOSING LEGISLATION REQUIRING ~JOTER REGISTRATION
RECORDS TO SHOW LAST PRIOR RESIDENCE OF APPLICANTS
WHEREAS, there are many proposals relating to change in the manner of cotzducting
voters registration coming before the Minnesota legislatures
WHEREAS, the present system of registering voters has proved fair and equitable
to administer, and
WHEREAS, the levy limits imposed upon municipal governments make the most
stringent use of personnel and ~~sources mandatory for all municipalities, and
WHEREAS, the provisions would add to the financial burden of municipalities
by requiring the expenditure of excessive funds and personnel to comply with the
provisions relating to verifying prior residences of prospective voters ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED that the City of Richfield opposes the
provisions of. S, Fo 245 relating to verification of last prior residence of citizens
registering as voters,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to Hennepin County
Legislators, the Minnesota Clerks and Finance Officers Association and the League of
Minnesota Municipalities .
