RESOLUTION OPPOSING SENATE FILE NO. 646
WHEREAS, Senate File 646 provides that all polling places shall be accessible
by ~~l~.eelchair; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richfield h,as historically considered accessibility for the
aged and the irifYrm: as one of the main prerequisites in designating any polling place
within the City, and
WHEREAS, municipalities are severely limited in obtaining any available polling
places in certain p~'ecincts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Richfield City Council opposes
the adoption of Senate File 646, on the grounds that adherence to the law could be
feas~.bly impossible in some circumstances and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to
Senator William Kirchner and to Representatives Ernest Lindstrom and James Swanson.
Passed by the city council of the City of Richfield this 26th day of March, 1973.
